Do You Smoke

Introduction

The harmful effects of smoking are already well explained by many sources, so there is no need for reiteration. However, I would like to say something about how smoking affects young generation and who plays major role behind this. And what are the diseases and difficulties faced by smokers...

I would say MNCs contribute a lot in encouraging the youth to indulge in smoking. "MNCs have no future for their product in the developed markets. That is why they are trying to increase their market place by selling cigarettes in the developing countries," says Dr. Stephen J. Bourke, expert in respiratory medicine from the University of Newscastle Upon Tyne, U.K. Adolescents are generally in an urge to indulge in such activities. Exploiting this advantage, MNCs are targeting them by advertising that smoking has no link to diseases and so. We all know that how risky is smoking and it could pave the way for illness such as lung cancer, respiratory disorder, anemia, etc.

Dr. Bourke said that more than fifty per cent of people with lung disease are smokers. Also it increases the risk in people who could be affected by hereditary lung diseases. Parents must keep track of adolescents if they start smoking. The sooner you find out the better.you could save your children from this monster. Once they got addicted, it is very difficult to give up the habit.

Among the lifetime smokers, one in every two persons dies from smoking.

Nicotine in a cigar is the key addictive substance, which makes the one who smokes excited. This nicotine combined with carbon monoxide causes heart rate and blood pressure to increase rapidly by straining them resulting in damage of heart and vessels.

Smokers are prone to heart attack and stroke.

At its worse, smoking changes the real color of the lungs making it covered with tar and causing lung cancer.

Smoking during pregnancy must be avoided by any means as this causes the babies born with low weight, prematurity, spontaneous abortion, etc.

Smoking in the public places must be prohibited so that exposure to second-hand smoking can be avoided.

Nicotine is such an addictive substance that even morphine and cocaine are considered as lower addictive ones.

Usually when you smoke, nicotine affects the neurotransmitters in the brain, a sort of stimulation. Over time, your brain becomes accustomed to this stimulation. This is how you are urged to smoke.
